2018 boundary review
The UK Parliament has decided to reduce the number of constituencies, and therefore MPs, from 650 to 600. In England, the number of constituencies will reduce from 533 to 501.
The Boundary Commission for England, an independent and impartial organisation, has been conducting a review of these parliamentary constituencies over the past few years. They aim to make sure they are fairer and more equal, and take into consideration the views of local people, geographic factors, local ties and local government patterns.
There have been two stages of public consultation so far, and the revised proposals have now been published.
The third and final stage of consultation runs from 17 October to 11 December 2017, and the Commission are looking for any new or compelling evidence which means they may need to change these proposals.
