If you have items like sofas, tables, chairs, cabinets, wardrobes, beds, fridges, freezers, cookers or washing machines which you don’t want anymore, donate them! If they’re in good condition and in full working order, some charities and community shops will come and pick them up for free.
And if you’re looking to buy some great quality, affordable furniture or electricals, visit one of the local community shops. They have new items available all the time so if you don’t find what you’re looking for the first time, make sure you visit again!
All of these are local charities, supporting local people in Warrington.
It’s free to take them to a community recycling centre, but before you go please check what items you can take to each centre, and whether you need a permit.
List them on a recycling website, app or facebook group.
There are other companies who can get rid of items for you. It’s up to you to make sure they are licensed, so check the register of waste carriers, brokers and dealers on the Environment Agency website. If someone dumps or flytips your items illegally, you could be prosecuted.
If you’ve bought a new electrical item to replace an old one, the company you bought it from must provide a way for you to get rid of the old one, even if you didn’t buy it from them originally. Contact them directly and ask about their ‘take back’ service.
