If you’d like to home board dogs in your own home you must be licensed under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963.
The licence period runs for a year from the date of issue and licences are issued following a successful inspection by an officer and vet. The inspection ensures that the standards and conditions required by the Act are being followed, that the premises is suitable for boarding animals and finally to ensure that you have suitable experience and qualifications to care for the animals you’ll be boarding.
The number of animals permitted to be boarded at any one time will be listed on the Licence, as determined by the vet.
Unannounced visits may be made throughout the Licence period to ensure standards are being maintained.
