Time Square development
When the Time Square development is complete in 2020, it will include a new state-of-the-art, 13 screen, 2,500 seat multiplex cinema operated by Cineworld, as well as several restaurants, a new market hall, new council offices, a new 1160 space multi-storey car park and a new civic square.
This project will create up to 400 construction jobs and 400 permanent jobs in the leisure, retail and restaurant sectors.

As part of the ongoing construction works associated with the above development, the closure of Academy Way to eastbound traffic will be extended to enable the project top progress.
Here’s the details that will be in place from Monday 8 July to mid November 2019:
- Temporary restriction/order, Academy Way
- Temporary Hackney Carriage Stand and Clearway Order, between the hours of 9pm and 5am. South side of Academy Way from a point 18.2 metres north east of the junction with Bank Street for a distance of 51 metres in a north easterly direction – 8 spaces.
